Unicare Complex Care Specialist Ltd is looking for compassionate, patient and confident Complex Care Support Workers to join our team and provide high-quality 2:1 support to a young person with complex needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about person-centred care and has the confidence to support an individual who requires a high level of supervision, reassurance and assistance both at home and in the community.

About the Role

The individual requires 2:1 support due to significant disabilities, limited awareness of danger and behaviours that may place herself or others at risk.

As part of a two-person support team, you will work together to maintain the individual’s safety at home and in the community. You will provide close supervision due to Pica and the associated risk of ingesting non-food items, while supporting emotional regulation and responding calmly and appropriately during periods of distress.

The role may involve supporting behaviours that can include hitting, pinching, head-butting, hair pulling or property damage. You will help the individual manage transitions safely, support their communication needs and recognise non-verbal signs of pain, discomfort or distress.

You will also encourage meaningful engagement and participation in activities, support safe access to public places and transport, and promote as much independence as possible while maintaining the appropriate level of supervision.

All support must be delivered in accordance with the individual’s care plans, risk assessments and Positive Behaviour Support strategies. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate care records and working collaboratively with family members, colleagues and the wider professional team.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, respectful and highly observant, with the confidence to remain calm when supporting behaviours of concern.

You should be comfortable supporting an individual with complex communication needs and be able to work effectively alongside another member of staff within a 2:1 care arrangement.

Reliability and consistency are particularly important. You should be committed to building positive relationships, promoting dignity and choice, and supporting the individual to participate safely and meaningfully in everyday life.

Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, Pica, complex needs or behaviours of concern would be highly desirable.
