Every resident receives a comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan, developed through careful functional assessment and built around the individual’s specific communication style, sensory needs, mental health presentation, learning profile, and personal aspirations. The PBS approach is complemented by trauma-informed practice across all aspects of support — from daily interactions to the physical environment, from crisis prevention planning to the management of transitions and change.

The Guildford Avenue staff team is a mixed team — including both male and female workers — with expertise spanning mental health, autism, learning disability, PBS, trauma-informed support, and clinical care. All staff complete Unicare’s mandatory training programme and participate in regular PBS-informed supervision and reflective practice.
The service benefits from Unicare’s wider Surrey network — including established links to Surrey County Council commissioning teams, Surrey NHS services, and community mental health and learning disability teams. Unicare’s PBS Specialist provides regular specialist consultation for the Guildford Avenue team. The service is managed by a dedicated House Manager and overseen by the Service Manager and Registered Manager, Rashied Shote.
